Carly Waterman

Carly's voice was being heard long before she started compèring for The Virtuosi GUS Band. Carly spent her youth presenting and producing for various local radio stations in Northamptonshire. At 19, Carly was presenting her own show on Corby Radio; at 20 she was the principal news reader for the same station and at 21 she was news reporter for Northants 96.

Carly's experience in radio is invaluable to her as a compère, but so is her experience as an English and Drama Teacher. At 23, Carly left her radio career behind and focused on becoming a qualified teacher. Carly is now in her 11th year of teaching and currently holds the post of Deputy Headteacher in a large comprehensive school in Northampton - the town where The Virtuosi GUS Band rehearses.

Carly has compèred many concerts for local brass bands in many prestigious venues, including Peterborough Cathedral. Although she has now taken up the role of resident compère with the Virtuosi GUS Band, Carly is regularly asked to front concerts for local and regional brass groups.

Carly lives in Kettering, the town from which The Virtuosi GUS Band originates, with her husband Nathan. Although Carly admits to having little musical talent, and certainly no experience playing brass instruments, she is passionate about brass band music and is privileged to be able to give the band's audiences interesting information about the music they are hearing.
