Geoffrey Brand

In 1975 the G.U.S. band passed into the hands of one of the most successful brass band conductors of the time, Geoffrey Brand.

Born into a Salvation Army family in Gloucester, Geoffrey Brand made his career as a professional trumpet player with the Royal Philharmonic, Philharmonia and Covent Garden orchestras.

He rose to prominence in brass banding after a successful spell as professional conductor of the Black Dyke Mills Band giving important performances and winning major titles. Since then, his career has taken him all over the world and into new fields such as publishing and recording.
