John Hudson

John started playing the cornet at the age of eleven in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. By the age of fourteen, he was principal cornet with the Wakefield schools band and a year later became leader and Principal Cornet of the Yorkshire schools brass band.

In 1976, John joined Grimethorpe Colliery Band and not only enjoyed performing concerts throughout the UK, but also around the world and as far a field as Australia.

Over the past few years John has been conducting bands up and down the country with some success. John accepted an invitation 2 years ago to join the GUS Band and has held the Principal seat ever since.

John enjoys working as a brass instrumental teacher for the Northamptonshire Music Services.
