On Saturday 27th February 2010, Virtuosi GUS Band will present a special concert entitled "Windows of the World - Into Africa".
Also featuring will be guest soloist Stephen Sykes, who is the current holder of the "BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Musician of the Year" award.
The evening will feature an entertaining programme of world and African music, and is helping to support the "Zambia Journey Appeal".
During Easter of this year, a group of eight members of The Salvation Army at Kettering, including Virtuosi GUS member Andrew Wainwright, will be travelling to Chikankata Mission, Zambia to lend a helping hand to the local people.
The two week trip will include:
- Five days at the Salvation Army Music School, helping to train young musicians. The group will be taking instruments and donating them to local young people who want to learn to play;
- Visiting the local hospital, getting alongside the patients and providing musical entertainment;
- A day with the Orphans and Vulnerable Children's team;
- A day with the mobile clinics;
- A day with the Water and Sanitation Project.
It is hoped that not only will the group make a real difference to people's lives through the visit in a very practical way, but also that it will be a life-changing experience for each person who travels to Zambia.
Tickets for the concert are priced at £10 and £8 (concessions) and are available on:
